Wetlands have a high educational potential and constitute true "open classrooms" where concepts, phenomena, and unique processes can be observed, understood, and studied, allowing the interpretation of the relationships that people establish with the environment.
In this way, wetlands can be considered authentic "biodiversity laboratories" that allow for the intuitive understanding of ecological processes. At the same time, they can function as "social laboratories" in which ancestral relationships of inhabitants with the wetland, its origin and uses, and its evolution over time can be understood and interpreted.
